Model Rocket Satellite
Model rocket flights can be divided into different flight states [1]:
- Launch
- Powered Flight
- Coasting
- Recovery
For the Ariane 6 Model rocket the cargo bay shall be redesigned so that it can hold miniature satellites. The goal is to deploy the satellite at a predefined height between phases 3 and 4 and let it be recovered with its own parachute or gliding system. The rocket will then deploy its own parachute and will be recovered separately.
Project Tasks
The redesign of the model rocket will have the following sub tasks:
- redesign of rocket electronics (Rocket PCB)
- mechanical redesign of cargo section with satellite deployment (A6M3C)
- satellite prototype for proof of concept (dummy satellite with recovery)
Student skills
- embedded electronics
- embedded software
- mechanical design
Group size
Ideally this will be done in a group of 3 students
